When history calls A poem by Host J. Mass

Give me liberty or give me death
Said the rebels of 1776
David VS Goliath with no Kevlar vest

Musket rounds and cannon fire
Succeeding from the Monarch ousting the Sire
Red coats are coming yelled the passer buyers

One by land and two by sea
Surprise attacks conceived on Christmas Eve
Crossing the Delaware in midst of a freeze
Birth of a Nation or plans ill conceived?

The times that tried men’s souls said Thomas Paine
America’s first spy team the Culpa Ring
Watch out for loyalist still serving the King

At the end of the age of reason
Inside Independence Hall committing treason
Rhode Island’s 1st Regiment fighting for two types of freedom

Oh Lorde it’s now or never to hell with the Tore’s
No blood, no guts, no glory
This is a Continental Army story

They were farmers, lawyers, and average guys
That answered the call of freedoms cry
The spirit of 76 let us never forget
Happy 4th of July
