Ann Arbor Michigan was an exciting place
for Michigan fans this
afternoon. Coach Jim Harbaugh
finally went to the bench and pulled out his Peter!!! Redshirt Freshman Brandon Peters got his chance to show what he could do with a
ball this afternoon. Peters entered the game in
the second quarter after starting Quarterback John O’Korn fumbled the snap twice, and threw an
interception. The interception came after O’Korn had only completed 3 passes to start the game.
When Michigan dropped their Peters on the field
for the first time it came at a much needed time as Big Blue to this point in the game looked lethargic, uninterested, and limp as they have most of the season. The score of the game at
this time was 7 to 7. Peters came into the game
and metaphorically let it all hang out! Peters provided the spark the Wolverines needed
as he promptly took charge and marched the ball all the way up into
the end zone twice before halftime. This gave Big Blue a
21-7 lead at half time solely because of their
new found stud Brandon “Big Stud” Peters. Peters completed the first 5 passes he threw in a row something
the entire Michigan offense has struggled with immensely in
the past several weeks. Peters aired it all out for his first touchdown pass of his career to end the
first half. Peters was just as huge in the second quarter as
he lead Michigan to two more touchdown drives in
the second half to bring the Maize and Blue to a happy climax
as Michigan pulls away and defeated Rutgers 35-14. Peters finished
the game 10-14 for 124 yards and a touchdown. These are not stellar numbers by any stretch of the imagination but the
simple fact that he was able to complete passes and score in the red zone
is a huge improvement from the football we have been watching. No
disrespect to Rutgers but for the purposes of analyzing Michigan’s Peters we
have to look at everything in context. Rutgers has struggled all
season and has not been great since joining the Big Ten plus Michigan was at home in the unleashing Big Peters
in the Big House. Never the less Brandon Peters
looked good, he looked cool, calm and collected in the pocket and just might be
the answer to the offenses struggles as well as the anointed future of the Michigan Football program.
With all of this said and the super huge performance by Peters in the history books. The question still has to be
asked and is something that has been on the minds of the Big Blue
faithful for weeks. If Jim Harbaugh is really
this quarterback Guru we all thought he was. What the hell took him and the rest of the coaching staff so long to let our Peters out on the Big Ten and the rest of the world? The
question also has to be asked why
the offense has not gotten better from week to week, when one they go against
one of the premier defenses in college football every day in practice. Shouldn’t
there have at least been some noticeable improvement from week to week
with the type of money Michigan pays their coaches. Never the less an upright, erected Peters
is giving all of us in Big Blue Nation something
to look forward to and hope for as the future is upon us right now. A big Peter at quarterback might be all Jim Harbaugh
needs to move things were we all expect them to be in Ann Arbor.
Until next time GO BLUE BABY!!!!
